Granite.

This study focuses on the combination of steel and granite in functional and aesthetic forms, inspired by urban decay and the union of natural and manmade materials.

Decorative

Loop
$2,200.00

Exploring tension commonly found in architecture, the hovering stones seem to defy gravity as the rusted steel rods pierce through them. The juxtaposition of the polished and rough stone to the degrading metal highlights the long process that it takes to transform raw material to it’s refined form.

Dimensions: 44” Tall

Beam
$800.00

The inlay of steel beams into the unrefined stone explores the emergence of unrecognizable materials and the separation from the natural world that technology has created. The tight-fitting steel emerging from the rock plays on a mineral deposit we might see in nature.

Dimensions: 14” Tall

Crab
$500.00

This small display stand shares a playful likeness to a crab. Utilizing hay rake tines, the elegant curves of the rusting steel complement the rugged granite.

Dimensions: 44” Tall x 31” Wide

Functional

Pillar Side
$900.00

This commissioned table continues the exploration of rocks on the waters edge. A polished steel plate is fastened to an aged wood slab to form the circular table top. This top bisects the column of rock that makes up the base to form a seamless and minimal addition to this patio furniture set.

Coffee Boulder
$1,500.00

Inspired by rocks submerged in water, the cantilevered steel top seems to spill out of the boulder. The rippled steel lends the top a light and etherial look that contrasts the sides of the rough stone. This two-teared table aims to bring the natural world into a usable form, challenging what it takes to turn raw material into something useful.

Dimensions: 17” Tall, 29.5” Long, 16” Wide

Bench Slab
$1,300.00

Utilizing re-purposed cultivator blades as the legs, this stone bench rests in a balance between refined nature and degrading industry. The use of raw stone as a seat creates a surprisingly comfortable resting spot, while the rusted metal supporting it brings to question what use the things that we discard have.

Dimensions: 15” Tall, 41” Long, 10” Wide

Side Stone
$900.00

This piece mirrors a stone by the side of a pond. The blued steel tabletop interrupted by the stone creates a usable table from simple materials. The contrasting industrial L-bracket base challenges the norms of jointery; exploring the relationship between natural materials and common industrial products.

Dimensions: 25” Tall, 15” Wide

Flat Stone Side
$700.00

This minimalist granite tabletop challenges what we see in our kitchens by contrasting the mundane rough stone with the finished product that we are accustomed to seeing. The minimal steel legs defy the weight of the stone and add a juxtaposition of both dimension and material.

Dimensions: 18” Tall
